If I had to describe this issue in one word, it would be, Awesome.
One of the major misgivings I had about issue #2 was the Narada all of a sudden coming alive. I knew it had part Borg technology, but I still wasn't buying it.
But after reading #3, all those misgivings are gone because now it makes sense. The story was very clever and really enjoyable.
The art as always was fantastic...can't wait for #4. _________________ "Let us make sure, that history never forgets the name...Enterprise."--Captain Picard |

I was actually a little disappointed in the story this time around.
If you haven't actually read the issue, go no further as thar be spoilers, arrr!
Aside from the blatant Motion Picture rip, the whole V'Ger thing didn't make any sense in terms of the story. The V'Ger side trip supposedly gave Nero insight into exactly where and when Spock would appear, then going on to describe that this V'Ger had yet to even encounter Spock? Plus the energy probe which brought about the real Ilia's demise merely transported Nero to V'Ger?
Say what?
Art was great, as usual, but the story didn't really do much for me. _________________ The preceding post is OK to print. |

Spoilers....don't read on if you haven't read the issue....
You're right Duo that they didn't fully describe how exactly V'Ger helped Nero calculate and locate where Spock will pop up, maybe they'll describe that a little more in the next issue. And he knows that the V'Ger in this alternate universe hasn't met Spock yet because one: they're in the past and two: due to his mind meld with Spock he's privy to some of Spock's experience. And meeting V'Ger was a pretty big moment in Spock's life so that must leave some kind of mark.
In terms of V'Ger not taking over Nero and making him a probe a la Ilia, they vaguely say in the issue, due to his extreme hatred for Spock and his allies, V'Ger couldn't comprehend this emotion. Which I agree, sounds a little flimsy but hey, what are ya gonna do? _________________ "Let us make sure, that history never forgets the name...Enterprise."--Captain Picard |

It was very thrilling to see V'Ger in the pages of the comic. However, I do agree with what you guys are saying about how that plot point needed to be fleshed out a little more. Unfortunately, the writers only have four issues in which to tell their tale. _________________

okay, it's not exactly the topic....but today I got my ST XI DVD, the one that comes with a model enterprise. It's looks really good on my bookshelf I have to say and finally I get to see the deleted scenes. It's a pity that they took'em out of the movie, especially the ones with Nero being imprisoned.
The 'new' Klingons look very fitting, even - as a friend told me - they remind one a bit of 'Planet of the Apes' with their helmets....nevertheless I think that the style mingles very good with the one shown in ST VI. _________________ 'Play with friends, be a Hero!'
