Anyone know whether that Metroplex cover is a 'retailer incentive' or a regular issue? And when's the Cliffjumper spotlight out? It can't be May as solicitations are out for that month, but it could be June or in August after Metroplex.

I think from Ryall's blog that the Metroplex wraparound is standard, not an incentive. The comic itself is double-page spreads apparently. Sounds awesome.

Hmmmm.... this Metroplex thing looks to me like it might be set in the past, based on Sixshot's appearance. What if Goldbug ends up becoming who we know as Bumblebee? Sort of like an IDW-style reversal on what we know.

one of the things that always appealed to me about goldbug was that it was bumblebee in a new body and maybe a little grown up.

i would like to see this kept. his origin of becoming goldbug i am easily flexible on it could be easy his body damaged/eaten beyond repair by the swarm rebuilt rebuilt and upgraded by ratchet jetfire and the technobots into "goldbug" but there is no need to keep his name..

maybe a cheap reference like in the old cartoon

" hey look now i am a Gold Bug"

and then he goes back to bumblebee name

You have provided me with a single glimmer of light in an otherwise depressing thread. Thank you.

You know, that would actually be pretty interesting. It would allow them to still be the same character, and it wouldn't upset the people who want Bumblebee never to change. I think I'd probably be okay with that. It's a compromise, but a very, very good one.

Just an early draft. Plex is an Autobot.

As for Goldbug, he'll be his own separate character.

Cool. Maybe we can get a Goldbug spotlight then? Smile

Well, all my hopes are officially shattered now. Even if his IDW incarnation proves to be the most compelling character in the history of modern fiction, Goldbug is dead to me.

But honestly, thank you very much for clearing that up, Denton. I genuinely appreciate that. I think I'd much rather deal with the sting of losing my favorite character since childhood instead of having to deal with months of worrying about losing him, and then still losing him anyway.

Dang, this sucks. I don't drink, but maybe I can go drown my sorrows in a glass of Ovaltine or something.
Sad Sad Sad Sad

There, there Logan *pat pat*. At least they didn't make him into a Decepticon puppet and then blow his brain up from the inside. Wink

Yeah, only a complete loser of a character would go out like that. Wink

That's some big talk from someone whose namesake doesn't even exist yet.

Well, I suppose there's always that silver lining.

And speaking of Beachcomber, I wonder if Kup would be willing to lend him Outback's thumb. It seems to have done wonders for repairing Kup's mental functions.

Or at the very least, you can always have Spotlight: Jazz end with someone randomly saying the line, "Hey, I just talked to Beachcomber, and he's gonna be a-okay!"

I, er, *cough*...huh? Beachcomber in Spotlight: Jazz? I dunno if that's a very good idea...

At first I was rather negative about Megatron and Galvatron being separate, but it was handled well and changed my opinion of it.
Hopefully Goldbug works the same for you:-)

I actually think this thing of having Bumbles and 'Bug as seperate characters is a great move, much as it was with the two 'Trons before them.

When IDW move away from the mythology that was in place before they picked up Transformers, for me, that's when the series becomes most interesting.

I kinda wish things like the Matrix had never ever been introduced to IDW's continuity (and if you check, it suddenly appears with NO explanation of what it is or what it does, out of nowhere) and I cringe when I think of those aspects possibly overtaking the stuff IDW have contributed. So any deviation from this 'safe' and established lore is good for me.

Plus, I always thought Goldbug was a bit stupid. Why rebuild the weakest of the bunch into a more powerful model... who is still the weakest of the bunch?

Durrr...
