I don't mind aesthetic changes, but JJ is about to overthrow mayn facts of the Verse and expects us to be happy about it because we're fans and will swallow everything!
What I got from this (lame) explanation of his Nero will travel back from the normal Post-Nemesis-Verse and change the timeline before TOS, whereas a new parallel timeline is created that exists side by side with the old one. So actually nothing will become invalid, Classic Trek (meaning Canon) and the Written Canon will stay the way we know and love them, there'll be just a new one, the JJ-Canon.
It's actually bit like the Shatnerverse, Shatner also couldn't stand the idea being told what to do and to write, so he just made up his own version.... _________________ 'Play with friends, be a Hero!'

| I like the new Enterprise. It kinda makes it less of a change once the refit takes place in TMP time. |

might be liberating for the writer, but a pain in the ass for the fans... _________________ 'Play with friends, be a Hero!'

I don't know, Lieb...
It seems like it may be fun. Trying to fit the pieces together and see how they fit. Between the various tv shows, movies, novels, and comics Star Trek is like a huge tapestry. _________________

reminds me a bit of 'A beautiful Mind' where this guy is mentally ill and has a tapestry full of 'proof'.... _________________ 'Play with friends, be a Hero!'

Where the saucer is concerned, I would agree, but the remainder of the ship is a bigger stretch than the original Constitution. In the latest edition of Previews, there's a profile view of the upcoming toy and I realized the basic shape of the engineering hull would be more appropriate for an Excelsior class ship. The similarities to the TMP Enterprise in that regard are far more vague than those of the TOS version. _________________ The preceding post is OK to print. |
